Julie Millowick

I was born and live...

South Australia, and now live in Central Victoria

I love photographing...

Photography is an intrinsic part of my life and I love it.

I was trained....

At Prahran College of Advanced Education and also worked in the darkroom of Athol Shmith, John Cato and Peter Barr.  I have supported myself as a freelance photographer since the mid 1970’s

I like to work...

All the time, Anywhere.

I decided to become an artist when...

In February 1968 I saw the Eddie Adams photo made in Saigon of a Viet Cong suspect being executed, at close range, by Gen Loan. This image changed the course of history.  It motivated hundreds of thousands of people to join the anti-Vietnam War movement and place pressure on political leaders to act on promises to end the conflict.  I too wanted to capture powerful images that would change the world.  Of course this has not happened, but photography has changed me, and enriched my life

If (for some horrible reason) I couldn’t be an artist, I wouldn't mind being..

A Veterinary Surgeon.
